Lotusland

A mixed media installation installed in the basement of Maine College of Art. Walls and other materials are painted with acrylic paint. Materials include styrofoam, galvanized wire, wood, silk, faux fur, velvet, plaster, and PVC piping. LotusLand is an abundant, exploration and explosion of material, physicality and senses. The mural covers the entire left wall meticulously painted in the joyous colors of CandyLand. It is a curation of objects all telling their own story of creation while simultaneously playing off the role of another. I wanted the body to interact with the elements and architectural elements of the basement are emphasized as well as

Tension between these two worlds of making; painting and sculpture. There were objects dangling and inserted into the wall, spilling onto the floor and wrapped around the corners. The architecture was intentionally used, all the painted and sculpted elements were to adapted to the physical space upon installation.
